Mine Ops Announces Construction of the Mine Ops Lawson Photovoltaic Generation Facility
LAWSON DESERT, COLONIA —
Mine Ops, Inc. today announced the construction of the Mine Ops Lawson Photovoltaic Generation Facility, a landmark solar-generation project in the Lawson Desert. The facility is designed to strengthen the company's long-term energy resilience while advancing its sustainability goals across Colonia.
The Lawson facility will convert the desert's abundant daylight into locally generated power for Mine Ops operations. Its location pairs broad, open terrain with dependable sun exposure, creating a durable foundation for a new generation of company infrastructure.
“Mine Ops was built to take on the big jobs,” said Sudofox, owner of Mine Ops, Inc. “The Lawson Photovoltaic Generation Facility is one of those jobs: an investment in reliable power, practical independence, and the future we intend to build.”
For years, major operations across Colonia have relied on a conventional coal-and-dried-kelp power mix. While that system remains dependable, it depends on continuous harvesting, processing, transport, and fuel consumption at scale. The Lawson facility will help Mine Ops reduce its dependence on that fuel-intensive model by producing power at the point of use from a resource that arrives every morning.
The project represents a significant step toward Mine Ops' broader sustainability strategy. In addition to reducing exposure to fuel supply constraints, the facility will support the company's construction, mining, supply, logistics, and operations work with dedicated renewable generation capacity.
Construction is now underway in the Lawson Desert. Additional milestones, including generation capacity and commissioning details, will be announced as the project progresses.
